The Latin American Anthropology Seminar series is a forum in which scholars who conduct ethnographic research in Latin America and the Caribbean can present their work and get feedback in a collaborative environment, as well as build connections between researchers and departments. Speakers are both in the early phase of their careers and established scholars. The seminars take place fortnightly during the Autumn and Winter terms. Since 2020, the seminar is held online to enable participation beyond the UK.
Opening sessions have been delivered by renowned scholars such as Sian Lazar, Mette Louise Berg, Arturo Escobar and Gabriela Zamorano.
This is an initiative that has been running for over a decade and is currently hosted by the Centre for Latin American and Caribbean Studies (CLACS) at the School of Advanced Study, University of London, in collaboration with the Centre for Citizenship, Civil Society and the Rule of Law (CISRUL) at the University of Aberdeen and the Margaret Anstee Centre for Global Studies at the University of Cambridge.
You can watch previous seminar sessions on the CLACS YouTube Playlist.
If you wish to present your work at the seminar, please do reach out to the seminar convenors.
Convenors: Jessica Sklair (Cambridge), Denisse Román-Burgos (Aberdeen) and Ainhoa Montoya (CLACS, SAS).
