2008 ACD Letter to the Minister of Natural Resources and the Environment (SERNA)

On 5 June 2008, the Civic Allicance for Democracy (ACD) sent an open letter to the Minister of Natural Resources and the Environment (SERNA) outlining its work to reform existing mining laws and propose new legislation that, among other things, would prohibit the use of cyanide and require public referenda and/or consultations before approving new mining licences. The letter called for a new law that gauranteed legal security to communities that call for the protection of their environment.
