2009 Letter writing campaign supporting legislative ban on metallic mining

In February 2009, the National Roundtable Against Metallic Mining in El Salvador organized a letter writing campaign in partnership with Monseñor José Luis Escobar Alas, Archbishop of San Salvador, calling for an end to metallic mining. More than 10,000 letters from Salvadoran citizens were delivered to President Saca, demanding a definitive rejection of mining and approval of a law prohibiting the industry.
