2012 Demonstration against mining and increased violence

In January 2012, more than 5,000 people from 17 municipalities marched against mining and the increase of violence in the municipality of Jutiapa. The march ended with an open-air mass officiated by two Bishops who are historic figures in the struggle against mining in the country.
