2017 Civil Society Organizations send letter to IACHR in advance of hearing on Transparency and Access to Public Information

In July 2017, a group of civil organizations from Nicaragua, Guatemala, Peru and the Dominican Republic sent a letter to the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights in advance of its hearing on transparency and access to public information in the extractive industry. The letter advised that the group was "currently in the process of developing recommendations on transparency and access to information, environmental impact assessment and free, prior and informed consent in, among others, the extractive and infrastructure industries."
