2020 Local council demands review of environmental commitments on La Libertad mine

In January 2020, Santo Domingo Council, supported by the National Environmental Movement against Industrial Mining (MONAFMI), issued a public statement demanding environmental and mining authorities review compliance of agreements made by Calibre Mining in relation to the La Libertad mine and the community of Santo Domingo. The local officials also highlighted the pressure placed on residents directly affected by mine to leave their homes.
