In September 2005, thirteen local and national organizations launched the National Roundtable Against Metallic Mining in El Salvador (Mesa Nacional). In particular, the group includes local grassroots groups, research-oriented and religious organizations, and local, national and also international NGOs (Spalding, 2014).
