2011 Demonstration against attempts to legislate community consultations

On 29 April 2011, more than 3,000 people marched through Guatemala City to demonstrate against the government’s legislative initiative to regulate community referenda via a proposed law presented earlier that year. The majority of the protestors were "representatives of indigenous organizations from rural areas of Guatemala."
